The Birthday Face

The Birthday Face

Last Tuesday I turned 27, which is scary to even think about so let’s just not talk about that aspect, shall we? Instead, let’s talk about how I did my hair and makeup to make me feel extra special that day :) I went out for a meal with my fiancé so I wanted to look nice, but not overly made up. I chose a little black dress with a pair of golden high heels and kept my jewellery quite simple.

Hair

I curled my hair with my Enrapture Encode Totem Hair Styler (HERE) using the heat setting 3-3-3; I’ve done a tutorial on how I curl my hair not long ago, so if you want to see more or less how I achieved this hairstyle click HERE to watch the video. The only difference is that I did all the curls going away from the face, sprayed a little bit of hairspray on the curls, then brushed to smooth them and applied a bit more of hairspray to hold the wavy curls in place.

Makeup

For my base I chose Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation (HERE) to give my skin just enough coverage to even out my skin tone, followed by the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer  (HERE) under my eyes and on the redness around my nose. Then I applied MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose (HERE) to the apples of my cheeks and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle (HERE) to the top of my cheekbones; to add some definition to my face I used the MAC Blush in Harmony (HERE) to contour the hollows of my cheekbones.

After priming my eyes with the Inika Creme Eye Shadow in Champagne (HERE), I swiped the shade Half Baked from the Urban Decay Naked Palette (HERE) all over my lid and applied a bit of MAC Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown (HERE) to my crease; then I lined my upper lash line and lower waterline with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Rockstar (HERE), which is a gorgeous deep purple/aubergine shade. I highlighted my brow bone with the MAC Eyeshadow in Nylon (HERE) and filled in my eyebrows with a tiny amount of MAC Eyeshadow in Carbon (HERE); I then applied two coats of the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara (HERE) to my upper and lower lashes. Lastly, I went for pink lips with the Soap and Glory Super Colour Fabulipstick lipstick in The Missing Pink (HERE), and some Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Afterglow (HERE) over the top. And that’s the finished look!

The Birthday Face

It only took me about 30 minutes to get my hair and makeup done, so it’s definitely something worth doing if you’re going out and don’t have much time to get ready. What do you guys think of my birthday look? Let me know :)
