Summer is now over, but I’m still obsessed with that Summer glow. If you’re an avid follower here on Le Beauty Girl, you may have seen my first (HERE) and my second (HERE) attempts at finding the perfect cheekbone highlighter. After that, I got recommended so many great highlighters, including Benefit SunBeam and the ever so hyped up MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle, which as you can probably tell, is the one I chose to add to my makeup collection. The question is: is it worth the hype? We shall discuss that now!
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in ‘Soft and Gentle’ is a compact powder highlighter with a frosty metallic finish. MAC describes it as a ‘gilded peach bronze’ colour, which I agree, but I also spot a hint of ‘champagne’ there. You get a whopping 10g of product, which is the same thing you get from the MSF Natural powders.
To me, this is a universal highlighter. I always found that cool-toned highlighters suit pale skin tones and warm-toned highlighters suit medium to dark skin tones, but ‘Soft and Gentle’ is a funny one; even though I would classify it as a warm-toned highlighter, and therefore more suitable to medium + skin tones, it also looks amazing on paler skin tones (see it on the gorgeous Louise here).
So, is it worth the hype (and the investment)? The answer is one bit fat YES! This is by far the most beautiful highlighter I’ve ever tried; a quick swirl over my cheekbones and I’m left with the perfect amount of glow. It also photographs beautifully! I’ve been constantly reaching for it, and it was my chosen highlighter for my Cosmo Blog Awards Ceremony makeup (tutorial to come!). Even if you don’t buy any other highlighter ever again, do save up for this one; you won’t regret it – I’m well and truly addicted!
I hereby grant ’ HOLY GRAIL status to the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in ‘Soft and Gentle.
What do you think of MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle? Have you ever tried it? Do you know any other products that can rival it? Let me know!
