I’ve been in a ‘Foundation’ mood ever since the beginning of Summer. During this addiction period I’ve discovered 3 great foundations (Benefit Hello Flawless – HERE, YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat – HERE, Dior Airflash Spray Foundation – HERE) and now I’ve discovered another favourite foundation that introduces a whole new level to the ‘weightless’ foundation category!

Specs

It’s the Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup SPF 15 Foundation, the newest addition to the Armani  makeup collection that claims to be “the thinnest foundation in the world”, fusing with the skin to achieve a tailored coverage leaving no trace behind. The new Armani technology called “Maestro fil”, works by blending and layering pigments to create a thin texture with a velvety feel and high pigmentation. Maestro has SPF 15 to protect you face, whilst still looking ok under flash photography (a little bit of flashback, not too much). It is also non-comedogenic, which means that it doesn’t cause or aggravate acne.

Shades

It comes in 9 shades (2, 3, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6.5, 7 and 8), with a good range to suit from pale to deep skin tones. I have shade 6.5, which on my hand look a tiny bit too light for my skin, but it looks quite nice on my face, as my face is a bit lighter than the rest of my body. It is slightly pink-toned, but this foundation literally disappears on the skin once it’s blended, so that wasn’t a problem on my yellow-toned skin.

Formulation

When put to the test, this foundation did not disappoint. On the contrary, it has impressed and wowed me and friends with its results! The first time I swatched it on my hand I couldn’t believe how velvety and soft this foundation was; the product seemed to disappear on my skin, leaving me with an even and perfected skin texture. When applied to the face, the instructions recommended a “drop by drop application with fingertips”, however I found it to blend and ‘disappear’ better when applied with a stippling brush.

Coverage

I can hand on heart say I cannot feel this foundation on my skin after it’s blended. It’s like I’m not wearing anything, but my face looks even, brighter and perfected. You won’t get high coverage out this foundation, but you can get a decent medium coverage by building it up in layers. Maestro is not sticky and it dries immediately without leaving any greasiness behind. I also noticed it filled in some fine lines on my face without clinging to dry patches, which as you may know by now is definitely a winner on my books because I have ridiculously dry skin; Hooray!

Results

I love this foundation! It’s lightweight, invisible and makes my skin feel so soft without clinging to my problematic dry areas (around my nose and between my eyebrows). I’ve been wearing it constantly on the daytime with a bit of mascara and some lipgloss; perfect! My only tip is to blend it in as much as you can if you want the foundation ‘disappear’ on your face; when blended really quickly, it can sit on the surface of the skin and on closer inspection you’ll be able to see traces of the foundation on some areas.

What do you think of the Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup foundation? Does it tick the boxes of a great foundation on your books? Have you tried anything like it before?
