Black & White: Classic Winged Eyeliner With An Edge

13 November 2011

Very often I’m browsing through photos of 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s beauties and wonder, ‘What is it about them that looks so sexy, alluring, and distinctive?’ I think I finally figured it out: the eyes! A dramatic winged eyeliner is the source of this extreme sexyness and flirtiness they all had in common. Here is my attempt to create a winged eyeliner look inspired by some of the most beautiful women in the world!

Claudine Auger
Sophia Loren
The secret to working this look is to downplay everything else and concentrate on your winged eyeliner. The shape, as you can see, forms an angle going upwards towards the brows and downwards towards the inner corner of your eyes; that will give the illusion of a facelift when you have your eyes open. Try and keep the line as straight and slant as possible for a more effective result. Mine wasn’t perfect, but I gave it my best try :)
Ultimately the size of the ‘wing’ will the depend on the shape of your eyes. Start off with a thin line and keep checking to see how it looks, with eyes closed and open, as you thicken the line.

Sophia Loren
I absolutely love this look and the boyfriend said, ‘Why don’t you wear this more often?’, which is a pretty good sign that you’re doing something right! :o) This is only an inspired look, so it’s a bit different from the photos and slightly edgier. Hope you liked it and I’ll see you on my next post!
Au revoir!

Me too! I’m a disaster you liquid eyeliner, that’s why I drew the shape with podwer eyeshadow and filled in the spaces with liquid eyeliner, and they went over it again with powder to intensify the black :)
