One of the biggest makeup trends at the Oscars this year was full-on fake lashes! It’s probably no surprise, as falsies have been around for a long time, but it was actually the first time that I could not find one Red Carpet celeb without some sort of fake lashes on. It seems the days of searching for the best volumising mascara ever are gone; well, at least for some. I’m still very much a mascara kind of girl; partially because I suck at applying false lashes, and also because I’m not too sure I want to apply a daily dosage of glue so close to my eyes – I keep it for special occasions.

Ardell Individual Lashes

So on those rare occasions when I wear falsies, I always choose individual lashes; they are much easier to apply, more natural-looking and a lot more comfortable to wear. I always have a pack or two of the Eylure Individual Lashes in my stash, but recently I’ve been testing the Ardell Individual Lashes and I like it a lot!

Ardell Individual Lashes

Ardell is a very popular false lashes brand in the US, but it’s slowly taking the UK market as well. The set I have is the Ardell Duralash Knot Free Flares in Medium Black, and it comes with 56 lashes, all one size. They are also available in short instead of medium, or brown instead of black. I think I would have preferred to have a mixture of short & medium in the same set, just because the medium lashes are fine for the outer corner of my eyes, but they are a bit too long for anywhere from the middle to the inner corner.

Ardell Individual Lashes

The lash itself is very wispy and natural-looking, so you can definitely get away with wearing it both in the daytime and evening. I used my MAC Duo Adhesive Glue to apply 3 to 4 individual lashes to the outer corner of my eyes, and the results were amazing! I have a couple of gaps on my lashline, so I placed the individual lashes very strategically to cover those gaps. You can see how much fuller my lashes look with the individual lashes, but it’s a subtle full look, nothing too OTT!

Ardell Individual Lashes

The most important thing for me when comes to false lashes, is how comfortable they are to wear. The Ardell lashes are extremely comfortable to wear, to the point where I can’t even feel they are there; and that’s coming from someone who’s very sensitive to any kind of falsies! My rule with false lashes is: if I can’t blink without my eyes watering, I’m taking them off! That was the biggest reason why I didn’t wear false lashes for on my wedding day – adding a potential discomfort to an already long list of uncomfortable things to endure (high heels, tight corset, fishtail dress & a million hair grips), would just be unnecessary to me. I just wish I had these Ardell ones on my wedding day!

Using the right glue does also play an important part on how well the false lashes stick to your lashline, and the only one I can recommend 100% is the MAC Duo Glue I mentioned above. Overall, I’m very pleased with the Ardell Individual Lashes, and I will definitely look into getting the Short version on my next trip to Boots. If you want an individual lashes set that already comes in different sizes, I recommend the Eylure Individual Lashes.
