January 2014 Favourites

I normally do my Monthly Favourites on my YouTube channel, but this month I thought I would do it here on the blog. It’s been a strange month for me; very little makeup and quite a few skincare products! I’ve had a really bad skin month; I started off January with really dehydrated skin, then towards the middle I had the weirdest breakouts ever (I never get spots!), and a few days ago things got back to normal, with just the odd dry patch here and there.

I decided to go back to basics and dig out my old friend, Mr. Hydraluron to give me a helping hand! Together with Healgel Face* and Healgel Eye*, these three products have really brought my skin back to its old self. Both Healgel Face and Healgel Gel Eye contain ingredients to nourish dehydrated skin and restore elasticity, so Hydraluron has allowed these ingredients to stay longer on my skin, and as a result significantly improved the appearance and condition of my skin . If you’re suffering from dehydrated skin, dry patches and uncharacteristic breakouts, give these products a go and hopefully they’ll help you as much as they’ve helped me.

For makeup, I’ve been loving my Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow Quad in Adventurous; it’s highly pigmented, easy to blend and the colours are perfect for a smokey eye, which you all know I love! I’ve also rediscovered a couple of old favourites, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (shade #3) and the Inika Mineral Blush in Peachy Keen*; The Collection concealer has been perfect to hide a couple of scars that I’ve been left with since the mysterious breakouts I had earlier this month, and the Inika blush is the most beautiful coral shade which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using pretty much everyday.

The last favourite is a fragrance, and it’s the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire, which I got as a Christmas present from my mother-in-law. It’s a fruity floral scent with distinctive notes of black cherry, black rose and patchouli. Very chic, warm and enigmatic – definitely right up my street! Oh and it stays on for absolutely ages! I can still smell it on the neckline of my coats.

That’s about it for the first month of the year! Only a few made the cut, but they’re all worth a mention :) What have you been loving this month?
