Revlon ColorStay Adventurous Palette (Review, Swatches & Makeup Look)
Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Palette || ‘Adventurous’, £7.99
If ‘smokey eyes’ are your thing, then you need this palette! I was sneakily browsing the aisles of Superdrug (shh! don’t tell my husband) when I spotted this beauty; I really couldn’t leave it there, so here’s the lowdown and all the reasons why you too, should have it in your life; after all, getting poor together a lot more fun, right?!
When I saw the Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Palette in ‘Adventurous’, I was immediately drawn to the MAC ‘Sumptuous Olive’ lookalike shade at the top right-hand corner! That beautiful khaki green pearlescent shade with a golden undertone is indeed a pretty good dupe for the popular MAC eyeshadow! I would have bought the palette for that eyeshadow alone, but I was incredibly pleased with the other eyeshadows in the quad. They are all warm toned and complimentary to one another, perfect for an Autumn/Winter smokey eye!
The quality of the eyeshadows did not disappoint either; soft, blendable and very pigmented. I found it better to apply the bronze (bottom left) and the creamy white (top left) shades with my fingers, whilst the khaki (top right) and the chocolate-brown (bottom right) shades worked better with a fluffy blending brush like MAC 217.
I applied the bronze shade all over the lid, then I used the chocolate-brown shade on the outer corner of my crease. To soften the crease colour, I added the khaki shade on top of the chocolate-brown shade, taking it a bit further into the crease. Then I re-applied the bronze shade on the inner half of the lid, and applied the creamy white shade on my brow bone and on my tear-duct area. I took the chocolate-brown and the khaki shades on my lower lash line and I lined my upper lash line with a liquid liner. Finally, I used an eye pencil on my upper and lower waterlines, and finished the eye makeup with 2 coats of mascara.
I applied the eyeshadows around noon and kept it on until 10pm; during the entire period, the signs of fading were very minimal and the colours stayed vibrant until I removed my makeup. I think 10 hours of wear is pretty good, even for high-end makeup! I didn’t wear a primer with this, but I applied concealer on my eye lids to even out my skin tone; if you have oily skin, the eyeshadows may wear off quicker on you, so priming your eyes is important to increase the lasting power of your eyeshadow.
I created this chart so you can see all the quads in one place, based on the palettes available on the Boots website.
The Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow quads come in a huge range of colours; there are currently 17 quads with colour coordinated shades – Addictive, Decadent, Precocious, Adventurous, Brazen, Siren, Seductive, Goddess, Inspired, Attitude, Enchanted, Serene, Bombshell, Luscious, Free Spirit, Sea Mist and Moonlit. That’s what I call variety! I’m sure there something there to suit everyone’s tastes!
So, do I need to say anything else to convince you to get this palette? Oh, yes of course, the price. Well, a quad like this will cost you £7.99, which is basically £2 per eyeshadow! I rest my case.
What do you think of the Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Palettes? Do you like the looks of ‘Adventurous’? I’m thinking about getting ‘Decadent’, ‘Attitude’ and ‘Moonlit’.

Your application is gorgeous. I bought this quad and couldn’t manage to apply with a light pressure and ended up like I had bruised eyes lol.
