L’Oreal CC Cream Anti-Dullness (Review and Before & After)

21 February 2013

L'Oreal CC Cream Anti-Dullness (Before and After)

L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream Anti-Dullness, £9.99 Boots

The BB Creams craze has come and gone but I still don’t get it; I’ve tried a few without much to report back, that’s why I’ve never written anything about them here on the blog. A couple of weeks ago I was browsing the beauty aisles in Boots and I spotted the latest offering from L’Oreal: CC Creams. My immediate reaction was ‘yeah, another one of those…’, but I was intrigued by the concept of the product; so I picked one and took home hoping it would be worth a review… and it was! So here it is :)

  • CC Creams are colour correcting creams
  • Anti-Dullness – mauve; Anti-Fatigue – apricot; Anti-Redness – green
  • Smart Pigment Capsules turn into foundation in contact with the skin
  • SPF 12
  • Light coverage, buildable to medium
  • Liquid consistency, can feel slightly sandy and grainy to touch before blending

The L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream, is a colour correcting cream containing Smart Pigment Capsules that turn into foundation on contact with the skin. There are 3 CC Creams as part of this range: Anti-Dullness, a mauve cream that targets dull, yellow skin; Anti-Fatigue, an apricot cream for tired-looking skin; and Anti-Redness, a green cream that helps neutralise redness on the skin. The CC Creams have SPF 12 and work with your natural skin tone to give you a light, but buildable coverage.

L'Oreal CC Cream Anti-Dullness (Before and After)

I chose the Anti-Dullness cream as my dull yellow skin is a major concern of mine, especially during the Winter. At first I was bit sceptical and thought it was a waste of time and money; after all, how the heck is a purple-looking liquidy cream supposed to turn into foundation and make me look less dull? It didn’t take long for me to see that this was no ordinary purple-looking liquidy cream; within seconds of blending the product into my skin, the mauve cream turned into a foundation colour – it must be magique!

L'Oreal CC Cream Anti-Dullness (Before and After)

I don’t know about lighter or darker skin tones, but the cream seemed to adapt to my skin tone and quickly covered my major skin concerns. The coverage is light but it can be built up to medium; the product feels light-weight but it doesn’t melt into the skin with the same ease of a liquid foundation, so remember to blend well. I can definitely skip foundation when I apply the L’Oreal CC Cream, however I still need a bit of concealer under my eyes and around my nose.

L'Oreal CC Cream Anti-Dullness (Before and After)

So far this CC Cream stuff has really impressed my sceptical self. I think I may have to go back for the Anti-Redness one to use on certain areas of my face along with the Anti-Dullness. The price is reasonable, considering it can replace foundation for some people, and it does what it says on the tin, so thumbs up to L’Oreal on this one!

What do you think of the L’oreal CC Creams? Have you tried CC Creams before? How did you get on with BB Creams? I would love to know :)

  • Product: L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream Anti-Dullness

I tried the Anti Redness and was pretty impressed. Not a huge amount of coverage but definitely helped tone down redness and was great for a nude look or as a base for foundation.

I absolutely love this CC Cream. I bought it as I wanted something light weight with a dewy finish to brighten me up, and it really does that. It covers most of my major concerns but I also apply a light concealer around my eyes and on my spots. I really liked this cream with a moisturiser underneath as I found it made it more creamy and dewy which lasted all day (it tended to mattify on my skin over the day, causing me to look dull and tired again!)… I also found out recently that it’s definitely buildable :-) Overall, lovely product and went out to buy my second tube today!

Did you guess it right? I got it totally wrong, again! 😆 We couldn’t be happier and it’s exactly what both James and Bella wanted. Our little tie-breaker! 🥰 #16weekspregnant #babynumber3 #genderreveal

It’s been a little while since my last update. Last week was tough, but this week I’ve started to see the light at the end of the Hyperemesis tunnel.

I’ve been able to keep most of my food down and I can now drink sips of water. Honestly that is such an amazing feeling!

I’m still being sick and still limited on what I can eat, but everyday I tolerate a few more smells and food.

My cravings are so weird! Full of things I’ve never bothered with before - Brazilian hot dogs, McDonalds Fillet O’ Fish, tinned peaches, tuna mayo jacket potato.

I’m still very weak and out of breath if I walk around - my body is playing catch up with the last 2/3 months of living on barely nothing.

I’m into my 14th week and I honestly feel so hopeful right now. ❤️

Ad: Today is International Women’s Day and this Ad: Today is International Women’s Day and this year #LEGO are celebrating the women of the future; our imaginative, creative, inspirational little girls!

We were asked to take part in the campaign, replicating a classic LEGO ad from 1981, which shows a little girl proudly holding up her LEGO creation.

So when I asked Bella what she wanted to make, no surprises there, she chose a princess castle!

I feel like this reflects her personality so much; she’s sweet and kind, but also really knows her mind and is super determined to do what she wants, how she wants it! 💗 Didn’t she do well?!

If you want to take part and recreate the ad with your amazing daughters, you can submit a photo at LEGO.com/FutureBuilders.

I’ve stopped losing weight! 🙏🏻 It feels so I’ve stopped losing weight! 🙏🏻 It feels so good to step on the scales and not see those numbers going down anymore! I worried every single day for weeks, especially when my weight loss was so quick. So today, I put shorts on for the first time in a month (took it off right after the photo, as I feel so uncomfortable with anything around my hips or waist), pushed my belly out and registered that milestone. Hyperemesis is not in my past yet, but my new meds are at least helping me keep some food down. That’s a lot of progress from a week ago! ❤️

Not the pregnancy announcement I had in mind, but… we’re expecting baby number 3! ❤️🙏🏻 I’m 11 weeks pregnant today and this is probably the most fitting photo to describe my first trimester so far: hyperemesis gravidarum.

I was going to wait until I was feeling better, until I had a bump to show, until I could put some makeup on… but who knows when that will be? I’ve lost over 15lbs, been admitted to hospital twice on IV fluids for dehydration, spent my birthday (and weeks on end!) in bed and have been put on so many meds I’ve lost count.

Today, as I was leaving the hospital on new meds and after a bag of fluids - feeling like a human being for the first time in over a month - I decided that writing this post, although cathartic for me, may be just what another HG sufferer needs to read to make them feel a little bit less alone.

This is not the beautiful “surprise” pregnancy announcement we’re used to seeing, but for the 1-3% of women who suffer with HG, it may be the only one you can manage.

So, this is where I’ve been hiding. Baby is doing well, mama not so well. But I’m hanging in there and taking one day at a time!

Baby is due September 2021! ❤️
