YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone Serum*, £45 - Feelunique || Debenhams
Back when the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum (HERE) was launched, it was named “the ‘holy grail’ of anti-ageing”. A few weeks ago, YSL added a new product to the Forever Youth Liberator line, which targets specifically the eye zone. I jumped at the chance to try this revolutionary product, after all, who doesn’t want to look younger and fresher?
This is the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone Serum, the first YSL eye serum that targets the panoramic eye area (crow’s feet, under eye wrinkles and frown lines). It contains the Glycanatif complex, which helps stimulate the skin’s ability to recover its own youthfulness. The serum comes with a little pipette drop applicator to give you more control over the amount of product you want to use.
How does it work?
I’m terribly sorry, but I may have to get a bit scientific here; I don’t usually read that deeply into what beauty products are made of, but the entire Forever Youth Liberator line makes a lot of bold promises, and I want to make sure that we understand exact how it plans to deliver them.
I’ll try to keep it simple: first of all, the formula inside the Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone Serum is based on the fact that as we get older our skin looses its firmness and looks a bit wrinkly. That’s because there isn’t as much collagen available to hold everything in place. So if we know who (or what) is responsible for producing collagen, we can try to give it a little help producing some more, right?!
Glycans are partially responsible for the making of collagen, but they decrease in quantity with age. The YSL Forever Youth Liberator uses a formula (Glycanatif complex) that helps stimulate these Glycans so they can continue to play their part in the production of collagen, and we can go back to looking young and fresh. And that’s how YSL promises to fight wrinkles, dark circles, puffiness, crow’s feet and frown lines – I hope I haven’t lost you with all the geeky lingo by now! :)
Does it work?
Even though I’ve not aged all that much yet, I am in my late twenties, and so I’ve decided to make a true effort to look after my skin. I don’t have any visible wrinkles, but I do have dark under eye circles and under eye bags (don’t we all?). I’ve chosen them to be my target area whilst trying this product and looking for results.
According to YSL, you can see visible results from the first application, and after 3 days “wrinkles look smoothed, dark circles and under eye bags appear reduced”. I’ve been using the Eye Zone Serum for about a week, and I have noticed my skin looks firmer around my eyes and my dark circles are not so dark anymore, but I want to give it at least a month before I can write a full review.
I will report back with ‘Before and After’ photos and a progress update, so watch this space! I understand that this is an expensive product, so I want to give you as much details as possible so you can make an informed decision before committing to buy it. If you do decide to give it a try, remember to monitor your progress (maybe document it by taking photographs); the difference can be very subtle if you’re not ageing so much yet.
What do you think of the new YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Zone Serum? Have you tried any products from the YSL Forever Youth Liberator line? Do you believe that science plays a important part on skincare products? I’d love to know what you think about this!
